Holiday.

When I went to hawaii me and my family had lots of fun. First we went Honolulu and 5 days later we went to maui. On the plane we took about 15 hours from our house to our hotel which was quite tiring but we all were fine when we got to Honolulu.

Honolulu

Honolulu is the major city of the island of Oahu. It is where the airport is. Honolulu was a 8.5 hour flight from Auckland (very boring). The main beach is Waikiki beach but there are heaps of beaches on the island. On the first day we did nothing at all just hanged around the pool. On the second day we went shopping and found 2 tommy hilfiger clothes and that is all i got for that day on the third day we went to hanauma bay which Claudia was planned for the family and after that we had dinner at a friend's place. On the fourth day we went to the fireworks because they do that every friday. on the fifth day we transferred to maui and the security is really stressful because you had to take off your shoes and hats you also had to take out all your technology.Volcanoes – Hawaii really is just a whole heap of volcanoes that have erupted over centuries and continue to spill lava – so Hawaii is getting bigger all the time. Volcanic Rock – you see volcanic rock everywhere. It is just on the side of the roads. The people have used it to build things like stone fences etc Beaches – white sand (sometimes golden), very blue water (like powerade), good for snorkelling, very warm Hanauma Bay – formed by underwater volcano pushing lava up out of the sea then hardening into rock. It created a crater. When the seas rose thousands of years ago, because a bay that is still there today. Snorkelling, lots of fish and sometimes turtles. Banyan Tree (Moana – photos) - Branches send down stems into the ground that over hundreds of years form new trunks so is it one tree with many trunks. Driving – all driving is on the wrong side of the road. This made Dad very stressed!!!! All the road rules are different. For example if you are turning right at a red light, you are expected to go, even when it is red. If you don’t, the locals start tooting at you!

Maui

At maui after the plane went home and didn’t do anything but go to the beach and pool. Made up of 2 volcanoes (10,000 foot high) and joined by farmland. Amazing beaches, warm temperatures etc. Nice in the morning, often windy in the afternoon. On the second day we practically did the same on the third day. On the fourth day we went to a crater in the middle of the ocean where you can go snorkelling. Seeing all the tropical fish. Water so clear you can see 60 metres in every direction they had a big jump off the boat which was really high and a big slide that was only open at that place.Turtle Town – where the green sea turtles live. They usually go under water for 15-20 minutes but can stay underwater for hours in they feel threatened.also on that day we went shopping and got lots of clothes. On the fourth day we relaxed again. And on the fifth day we went back to honolulu for one night and then in the morning we had to go back to christchurch.

How the snail became slow

One time many many years ago there was a snail was slow like it is now and he had no friends he was lonely. One day red deer was minding his own business when he heard snail crying, at the goodness from his heart he went to the snail and said “why are you crying snail?”

“Im crying because everyone is so much faster than me.” said the snail. So the red deer casted a spell on snail to make him go faster.

On the day When snail got his spell casted on him he saw a poster and it said “come down to the middle of the forest to find the fastest being in the land.” So snail thought time to see how fast he could go.

When he was at the track it looked like a lot of grass but a big ring and he was vs a lion, a tiger and a jaguar. And when the race started I raced ahead with tremendous speed and the lion and the tiger were so far behind his only competition was jaguar but he was to slow for the snail and he crossed the line first and the jaguar lost by 29 seconds and he was not happy. 2 minutes later the lion and the tiger were crossing the line.

3 years later.

Snail was the grand prix racer in all the land and he was so humble and nice for 3 years until he won the biggest race of all time called the race of the of century. He had been preparing for this race for 3 years and he was the least favourite in the hole jungle. He was really nervous because the race was tomorrow and he was vs a deer that came from the forest a fast bird and a cheater he had tough competition but he was just as good as them.

As the race was about to begin he started to feel a weird feeling and as they started racing he started to go slow  as slow as he was before his career.  He got past the first lap when everybody else had finished. Snail woke up in fright it was just a dream But it felt so real and maybe it was a dream that could really happen.

The next day.

In the morning he was nervous about the dream and he was the underdog so he had a heap of pressure and he was super tired because after his dream he couldn't get back to sleep. When the racers were talking they all looked very confident and snail on the other hand looked very nervous he was talking to the cheater and he said. “Good luck to all and may the best racer win.” He said to snail. “Just don't even try ok you aren't as fast as any of us.” But that just made snail even more nervous.

10 minets

As the clock was coming down to the race the pressure was building up for all the racers even cheetah looked a bit nervous too but then snail remembered one thing his mum she said to him all the time just go for it go big make your shot count and at that moment he felt a lot less nervous in fact he was determined to win today. As they lined up the deer, bird and the cheetah looked tense but I looked confident and calm.

Go and we were off i had a steady start at the middle the catheter was well ahead but he remembered that cheaters get tired in a short amount of time the deer and the bird were neck and neck and i was catching up to cheater and he looked tired but he was still going i took the lead just then i was heading into the final lap of the race i went as fast as i could and made it round the lap in 10 seconds fastest ever lap in history of racing. He was so happy he could scream and he felt a sense of relief. He was mean to the cheater who came second and the bird and the deer who equaled 3 place.

When he got back home he had made lots of people sad and mad and now no one really liked him at all for good reasons he had been all over the news about how he had been mean to everyone even his mum was mad at him. He had thought about what happened but he couldn't put a finger on it sadly. In the morning he saw his mum talking to his dad quietly but snail overheard their conversation and they said “we should turn him into red deer.”

“But mum I don’t know what i have done wrong tell me mum.”

“You have been mean to everyone in the land.”

“I’m sorry mum i will work on it.”

“Ok I will give you one more chance.”

“Thanks mum!”

2 days later

He was trying his best but he was being mean to some people but he was nice to most,  some people were happy with snail that he had changed but some were super mad. Red deer noticed that he was being mean to some people and red deer was watching closely and snail is becoming mean to everyone and red deer is so mad now that he could take his powers away. Red deer went to snail and spoke to him. “You are being mean to everyone in the land!”

“I’m sorry but it is really hard to be humble and nice sadly.”

“Sorry is not good enough.”

“What do I do then Red deer.”

“You can not change a thing. I gave you those powers so you would stop crying but this is how you repay me, I should take your powers away right now!”

“No please don't i will do anything.”

“There is nothing you can do.”

Red deer took his powers away and that is why snails are slow and they will always be slow forever.

New Zealands come back

The America's cup. After 2013 New Zealand lost after a lead 6-1 to NZ and thirsty to beat America this time round and they are in the finals and they are up 1-6 to New Zealand and very likely to win as they set off a good start at an even start but with NZ in the lead by about 20 meters in the lead and they win by 55 seconds and I felt super happy for New Zealand my dad was super happy we were all over the moon and one of the best revenges ever for me. The End

The Best present

In the morning I told my dad it's my birthday tomorrow and he said what do you want for your birthday and I said i want to go to the moon. That night when I went to bed early so i could get to my birthday sooner and I thought about what presents I was getting and I felt sleepy and drifted off. In the morning everything felt light so I ran outside and we were at the moon we were in a glass dome so we were safe. Me and my sister were amazed at our day.

The last word

On a dark and scary night the wind was strong an old shack faintly seen with a torch so I thought I should sleep there for the night. But he would regret it later. So he went in the house it was dark creepy and a cold death feeling in it. All he could see was a old chair by a light switch he turned on the light and it flickered for a couple of minutes and then the lights turned off and all you could see were two eyes and a mouth of a scary cat. Things didn't end well.
